ThunderCats Are Loose!!

Photobucket
Back in the 1980's ThunderCats were one of my absolute favorite shows, with the news of a NEW one hitting Cartoon Network I thought it would be appropriate to do a nice blog about it.

The Original Show's Intro:

Are you hearing The Magic, or feeling the roar? I sure did as a fledgling Kindergartener! This Rankin/Bass cartoon ran for five years with the characters created by Tobin "Ted" Wolf. Eventually Rankin/Bass got bought by Warner Bros. Of course it had many toys and other merchandise that I just HAD to have.

Now onto the characters! The Main ones anyway...

Photobucket

Lion-o is the Leader and King of the ThunderCats. Lion-O is but a child, stuck in a man's body due to a Hyper-sleep accident that happened on their way to Third-Earth. His mentor is Jagga, who later dies. Even though he is dead he Haunts Lion-o Much like a Jedi Master. I think they made him a kid so kids watching the show can relate to him. He's only a kid in the first couple of episodes anyway and they don't really reference his inexperiance or anything.

Photobucket

He also controls the eye of Thundara and the Mystical Sword of Omens. This tool allows him to have "sight beyond sight" or a limited ESP to see unseen dangers, or troubles that may, or are, affecting his comrads. Also he is able to broadcast a signal that unifies all the ThunderCats who see it. His other Weapon is a claw like gauntlet that can be used to Scratch, as a shield, and also has grappling hook knuckles.

Photobucket

Panthro is the Thundercats's mechanic. Much like Donatello of Ninja Turtles fame, he's the one who creates all the vehicles and gadgets that they use, His most proud achievement is The Thundertank! He was also my favorite Character as a kid because he didn't take any crap from anybody and had those Battle Sticks (nunchukus)! He was also one of the more Physical fighters and was always ready to go!

Tygra is the archetect and scientist of the group. He tends to keep to himself. His weapon of choice is a bolo-whip that has the ability to turn him invisible. He's the one who designed and helped build Cat's Lair, which is the base in which the ThunderCats operate. He tends to be shy and has High Morals.

Cheetara is the Speedster of the group. Some would argue she's also the Sex appeal. Don't let the fact that she's female let you think she's weak. She can kick butt with the rest of 'em. Her weapon of choice is a bo-staff that she can extend. Also due to her speed she has limited psychic abilities.

Photobucket

WileyKit and WileyCat are twins, Sometimes refered to as the ThunderKittens. Wileykit is sort of a Know-it-all character, where as Wileycat is more impulsive. The thing is, they are technically the same age as Lion-o. Except they actually ACT like Kids, unlike Lion-O. His whole "Kid in the body of a man" is kinda convoluted and not really that important, or really mentioned anyway. But back to the ThunderKittens...They have these Airboard things, that are pretty awesome, and their Bag of tricks. The Tricks are Pellets of various things such as itch powder, or sleeping gas or other random things like that. They are very curious and tend to get into trouble quite a bit.

Photobucket

Snarf is pretty darn annoying. He was Lion-O's nanny back on Thundara, so he kinda tended to smother him a bit. He's not really all that useful on the team, but they keep him around for some reason. He does provide some Comedy relief however.

The Thundercats even had a Comic series in 2002 By Wildstorm and DC comics. A cross over with Superman was also made. Good Luck Finding them however.

I can't Make a Blog about ThunderCats without any mention of Mummra The Ever Living.
Photobucket

Mumm-ra is the main nemesis in the show. Sure there's other bad guys, but Mumm-ra is in almost every episode. He appears to be a very decrepit old mummie. In actuality he is an agent to the Ancient Spirits of Evil, who wish to spread their darkness over Third-Earth. Mumm-ra's only weakness is his reflection. Once he is defeated or runs out of energy he must return to his sarcophagus to rest. Later on in the show he got a bull dog like pet named Ma-mutt. He also employed The mutants.

The Mutants included a lizardman named Slithe, Monkeyman, Jackleman, and Vultureman. They were Similar to Bebop and Rocksteady from Ninja Turtles, as they weren't to bright. Slithe, the leader, was actually very cold and Calculating.

In Closing I'm going to leave you with the trailer and an image to The NEW show that will be on Cartoon Network.

FINAL FIGHT

In Metro City a new Mayor is taking office on the platform of getting rid of crime. However, the Mad Gears, don't think so. They have stolen the Mayor's Daughter, Jessica and it's up to the Mayor Mike Haggar, her Boyfriend Cody Tavers and A Bushin-ryu master named Guy to save her from their evil Clutches!

It's Beat-em-up game time!

FF1 Pictures, Images and Photos

Originally Conceived as the next Street Fighter, tentatively titled "Street Fighter '89", This Coin-op game is rather fun. After some Internal testing they found it was nothing like the original Street Fighter at all, however it is closely tied to Capcom's history.

So after making it a Sidescrolling Beat-em-up in the vien of Double Dragon, or Golden Axe, or even Battle Toads... They created a NEW Franchise. The Sequels However, were Made for Consoles Only, and are just as good as the first. They also used the sequels to introduce new characters to the series.

However there was some Controversy. Mainly it involved the Female Characters Roxy and Poison. In Some cases They were edited to become Males, in other cases the Sprites were edited to have their clothes not be so revealing.

Poison and Roxy Pictures, Images and Photos

Also another Controversial thing about Final Fight is Poison is a Transsexual.

The picture above this sentence is that of a man.... Posion Also Appears in Street Fighter III as Hugo's Manager.

Other characters also showed up into Capcom's storied Street Fighter Alpha Series. Sodom, Rolento, Cody, and Guy are all available for play in Street Fighter Alpha3. Also Hugo is in Street Fighter III. Hugo is the archetype of the Andore/Andore Jr. Characters, and Rolento and Sodom are bosses from Final Fight.

According to The storyline Cody kept on fighting long after the Mad Gear were driven out of Metro City so he got arrested. He now fights dirty. He first appeared that way in Street Fighter Alpha 3. Cody is one of the NEW featured characters in Super Street Fighter IV as well.
Cody Street Fighter Pictures, Images and Photos

Guy is a Bushin-Ryu ninja. He is slightly weaker than Cody, But is a lot faster and more agile. He hasn't changed to much from his original appearance but he does have some new moves. I also like the way he looks. The design is pretty good, inm my opinion. Always calm and collected he strikes with great accuracy. He is Also one of the Featured new characters in Super Street Fighter IV. He's also a personal fave from Alpha3.

Guy Pictures, Images and Photos

Mike Hagger ... what to say about that guy. He's CLEARLY the strongest character in the game. However he is slow and relies a lot on grapples. He is a former wrestler, ya know. He also has a spinning lariat move which Zangief from Street Fighter also has.

So If you have XboxLive, or PSN Please go Download Final Fight:Double Impact. It's the best version of the game... and you get the bonus game Magic Sword, which is also a classic.

Rescue Rangers

I love Disney animation. Yes, It's true. So here's a blast from the past that you may enjoy.

This blog entry is going to be about Chip 'N Dale: Rescue Rangers!

To Fully understand the concept you have to check out "The Rescuers". This movie follows an adventure of Benard and Miss Bianca Released in 1977.
Photobucket

They were agents, in a mouse ran The Rescue Aid Society. They had received a message from a girl, Penny, who was being held against her will by the greedy Pawn shop owner Madam Madusa. It's a pretty good film and even inspired a sequel which came out in 1990. I actually prefer the sequel.

Photobucket

The Sequel's basic plot is a poacher is trying to capture a giant golden eagle that a Boy, Cody, rescued and befriended earlier. Unfortunately for the poacher he accidentally captured Cody instead. So the Rescue Aid Society Agents Benard and Bianca are on the case. With the help of Jake, a kangaroo rat.

Now They aren't REALLY connected to the Rescue Rangers, except for the fact that the Rescue Rangers Do the same thing as The Rescue Aid Society. The Only real exception is Chip, Dale and the gang are more local. The Rescue Aid Society is World wide.

Photobucket

Chip is the leader of the Rescue Rangers and he is sort of based on Indiana Jones. He wears the fedora and a bomber jacket. He's probably the strait-man of the series. Although he is silly at times, most of the time he's all business. He always fights with Dale and has an affection for Gadget Hackwrench.

Dale is the more laid back Detective in the Hawaiian shirt. He likes to have fun, he reads comics, plays videogames, and once in a while has "Chocolate Attacks". Dale's always fighting with Chip and also has an affection for Gadget Hackwrench, and Foxglove the bat.

Photobucket

Monterrey Jack is the muscle of the group from Australia. He traveled the world with his sidekick Zipper the Fly until a chance meeting with the Rescue Rangers. Fat Cat, one of the series main villains had destroyed his home. Monty has A STRONG addiction to cheese, and it puts him under a spell of sorts until he can eat it. He had a long standing relationship to Gadget's Father and views her as a surrogate Daughter. He likes hanging out with Dale, but he Likes how Chip gets down to business.

Photobucket

Gadget Hackwrench is the pilot, inventor and mechanic for the team. She's basically Macguyver. She can take just about anything and make a weapon or something useful with it. But, Sometimes the invention doesn't work the way it was intended, which can land the team in some trouble. Both Chip and Dale have an attration to her, but she doesn't ever seem to notice and doesn't prefer to be with either one individually.

There were many baddies in this show, but the only Re-occurring ones were Fat Cat and Professor Nimnul.

Photobucket

Fat Cat was basically a Mob boss. complete with henchmen. He's almost always concerned about his image, and his superiority over his men. He would always think of slow and elaborate ways to get rid of the rescue rangers, but of course he got foiled every time.

Photobucket

Professor Norton Nimnul is a mad scientist in the worst of ways. His plans are generally Convoluted or have wildly unnecessary means to an end. And unlike most of the other human baddies on this show he is aware of the rodents from time to time.

Photobucket

Back in 1990 Capcom put a game out on the NES. It featured simultaneous 2 player action. you could control either Chip, or Dale. It was a great platformer with the basic "save the Princess" story line. Only the "princess" was Gadget.

I know there was a sequel to that game in 1993, also by Capcom, but I have yet to find/play it.

Ok guys I think this one is long enough.

TL:DR lol
